The Registrar's Office offers quick, easy, secure electronic transcript services to our students and alumni through Parchment. 

Official vs. Unofficial Transcripts

There are two types of transcripts:

  • official transcripts
  • unofficial transcripts

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts are your record of all coursework, grades and degrees conferred at Rhode Island College. All requests for official transcripts are processed electronically through Parchment. 

Unofficial Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts are meant only for personal or advising purposes and may contain some "advising" information that will not appear on your official transcript. Unofficial transcripts do not contain the College seal or official signature and will not be accepted by other institutions or employers as proof of enrollment or graduation. Unofficial transcripts are obtained via the MyRIC portal.

Please Note: We are unable to accept transcript requests over the phone or by email. 

How to Request an Official Transcript

Requesting an official transcript is the quickest and most efficient way to obtain an official copy of your academic record, and all such requests must be made online through Parchment. All current and former RIC students can use Parchment to send official transcripts electronically or on paper to themselves, educational institutions, potential employers, or any other place of their choosing. If you choose the paper option within Parchment, your transcript will be sealed. Other institutions will only accept the paper transcript as official if it is unopened.

Please Note: Transcript orders will not be processed for students with financial holds on their records. Please email the Bursar's Office, bursar@fld6898.com, to determine how your hold can be removed.

How to Obtain an Unofficial Transcript

If you only need an unofficial transcript, please visit View Unofficial Transcript on MyRIC. (This area of MyRIC can be found by following this sequence of steps, beginning at the MyRIC RIC Student Homepage: RIC Student Homepage > Student Center > MyAcademics > View Unofficial Transcript.)

Getting Started on Parchment

Creating an Account

  1. Go to the sign up page. Here you'll see that "ordering your own credentials or academic records" is selected by default, which we are going to keep selected for these instructions. (If you are "ordering on behalf of someone else" you will need to have the learner’s information available and you will be prompted to enter your organization’s information and create an account.) Then you will need to enter your email address and click Continue. Please Note: If you use your RIC email address the system will find you more easily and you may not have to fill in as many fields during this process.
  2. You will now be prompted to enter your personal and contact information, and then to create a password. Complete both password fields and then click the Create an Account and Continue button.
  3. You will receive an email confirmation (in order to validate your email address), with a code that you must enter on the Account Confirmation screen, and then click Submit.
  4. Fill in all required fields on the Enrollment Information page and click Continue. (Please Note: Please estimate your first year of attendance if you are unsure, and if you do not know your Student ID number please enter the last 4 digits of your social security number.)

Ordering Your Transcript

  1. On the Available Credentials page (if you are not already logged in, you will be placed on this page after you log into Parchment) click the Order button next to Official Transcript.
  2. On the Set Delivery Destination screen you are going to choose whether you'd like the transcript sent to a school/organization (begin by entering its name in the search box and select from Parchment's suggestions) or to yourself, selecting "I'm sending to myself or another individual."
  3. Next you will choose how you would like your transcript sent: Electronic (via email, fastest option, typically received within 24 hours) or Printed and Mailed (printed on paper and mailed via USPS, typically received within 3–5 business days).
  4. For each option, you will follow the prompts and enter the Recipient Information, then click Continue
  5. Next, you will need to sign your name using your finger or mouse, type your full name in the boxes, check the box consenting to the release of your transcript, and click Continue.
  6. Review your order on the Order Summary page. If you need to make edits you can click the pencil icon. If you wish to delete your order, select the trash can icon, and if you would like to add another transcript request to your order, select the +Add option. Once you have reviewed your order for accuracy, click Complete Order.
  7. Your last screen will be the Order Confirmation page. Take note of the DID # should you need to track your order. You can also track your orders from the Dashboard of your Parchment account.
